Tell-tale Signs
What has happened before upon this earth can generally happen again. In past history, this earth has been hit numerous times by both small and relatively large impactors from space. These impactors have left many craters upon this earth: some still observable from the surface, while others are now located underground, covered by rock and fill material.
Some of the impactors in earlier times caused very major damage to a region or to a continent. Major Impacts
Once again, the scientists clearly realize that, in the past, this earth has been pounded many times by celestial objects. This earth has been hit by single, large impactors which have caused a lot of damage and loss of life. It has also been blasted with more than one impactor hitting together, and even barrages of impactors hitting in a major event, as noted in the pages linked below. In certain cases, there was potentially a loss of life.
There really should be no question about it. There is a lot of irrefutable evidence for major devastations which have occurred in past history because of space objects slamming into the earth. It also appears that this form of destruction can and will happen again, as indicated by the information in the pages linked below.
This type of major earth impact and destruction can happen again, as indicated by just the asteroids impact craters which are already known about, plus by what the scientists are discovering out in space. With these types of serious impacts, it is clearly not a matter of if, but only when.
But then, there are all those asteroids which we know absolutely nothing about. These are the asteroids which could totally surprise the inhabitants of this earth at virtually any time. And, because we know nothing about these asteroids which could potentially hit this earth, we know nothing about their size or the true destruction which they could cause.
With the above thoughts in mind, let us continue into the Word of God and see what it has to say about this earth being bombarded by space objects.
Earthquake and a Devastating Barrage
It is written:
"And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: and they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
"And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"(Revelation 6:9-17)
The Sun Became Black
In the Scripture above, it shows that there is a great earthquake. It speaks of the sun becoming black. It speaks about a mighty barrage of stars crashing to the earth. Let us consider this thought for a moment, for there may be more to this than is obvious from a quick read of the above passage. The Bible is written in a way which is meant to get us thinking. It is time to present a scenario which would allow for the light of the sun to be blackened.
A mighty barrage of space rocks slamming into the earth could cause massive earthquakes across the face of the earth. These massive earthquakes could then trigger numerous volcanic eruptions on this earth. Information linked below speaks of a similar type of scenario, where impactors from space trigger volcanoes on this earth.
At this point, there is something to consider further. The passage of Scripture in the section above speaks about a mighty barrage of impactors from space. This would mean even greater earthquakes. The greater the magnitude of the earthquakes involved, the greater may be the number of volcanoes triggered by it. A massive enough earthquake may also fracture the crust of the earth, allowing for the eruption of even new volcanoes.
It is very possible in the times ahead that a massive earthquake, potentially triggered by impactors from space, may trigger a number of volcanoes or super-volcanoes to erupt upon this earth. With impactors from space slamming into the earth, plus numerous volcanoes erupting, there would be an incredible amount of dust and ash in the atmosphere.
During the great judgment and devastation upon this earth, a great volume of dust and ash spewed into the upper atmosphere by just a number of volcanoes or super-volcanoes could greatly reduce or completely blot out the light of the sun. There is a potential that so much light could be blocked out, that it would be like night, in the midst of the day. But, there is another thing to be added to this picture.
Once again, the Holy Bible speaks of that time "when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ..."(2 Thessalonians 1:7-8) And again, the Holy Bible also declares: "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."(2 Peter 3:10)
With all the above things in mind, the Holy Bible also proclaims: "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."(Luke 21:33-36)
