THE  WRITER'S  JOURNEY  TOWARD  TRUTH

After reading the genuine Holy Bible through, from cover to cover a number of times, a question came into the writer's mind. Why were the children of Israel known as Jews? Well, the writer began searching for the answer to this question. In certain Bible dictionaries, it indicated that the children of Israel who went into captivity were called Jews. The dictionary indicated that they were given this name because they were from the tribe of Judah. Well, for a while the writer was somewhat pacified with the preceding answer.

As the writer continued to read through the genuine Holy Bible, from cover to cover, the question again returned to their mind. Exactly why were the children of Israel called "Jews"? The writer had a gut feeling that there was more to the answer than just that the children of Israel who went into captivity were from the tribe of Judah. Actually, as the writer continued to read through the genuine Holy Bible, they found the true answer...and it was far different than what was declared in a number of so-called Bible dictionaries.

So, with this short introduction, let us prepare to move onward toward finding out the real truth for why the children of Israel are called "Jews". Let us prepare to let the genuine Holy Bible clearly speak for itself on this issue. And, while we are at it, let us also learn another very important truth from the genuine Holy Bible. Let us learn who the Lord Jesus Christ actually is, at the present time, plus let us learn exactly who that one actually is who is called the Holy Ghost. It is all clearly shown through the genuine Holy Bible.

CONSIDERING  THE  LORD  JESUS  CHRIST

During that period of time about two thousand years ago, when the Lord Jesus Christ walked upon this earth in a body of flesh, he proclaimed many important things. Then, in the latter part of his bodily time on this earth, Jesus declared: "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."(1)

For those who have a genuine love for the real truth, plus are obedient to the commands of the Lord Jesus Christ which are clearly written in the genuine Holy Bible, the Spirit of truth shall guide them into all truth. Furthermore, he shall even show them things which are yet to come upon this earth. And, this guiding into all truth may also include coming to understand why Jews are actually called "Jews". But, for the enemies of Christ who do not have a genuine love for the real truth, there is something else in store.

Regarding those who are the enemies of Christ (1)(2) and enemies of the true way of Christ, the following is written: "And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved."(1)

The passage from the Holy Bible which is quoted above speaks about that Wicked one "whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish..." And, these particular people shall ultimately perish "because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved." But, the passage from the Holy Bible does not just end with the words which are quoted above.

The Holy Bible continues with these words: "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."(1) God does not waste time with those who do not want the real truth, or with those who are just "gamers" in religion, while they are having their "pleasure in unrighteousness." For these wicked people, "God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned."

Looking again to the Lord Jesus Christ, to those who truly desire to follow in his true way, he has clearly proclaimed: "If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you."(1)

Look closely at the very important words which are quoted above. The Lord Jesus Christ shall not leave his true followers comfortless. The risen and glorified Lord Jesus Christ shall actually come to them. He is the Comforter which God shall give. He is also the Spirit of truth...which Spirit, as noted earlier, shall guide his true followers into all truth, plus even show them things to come upon this earth. And now, there is even more to consider about the glorified Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Comforter and the Spirit of truth.

When the Lord Jesus Christ walked upon this earth in a body of flesh, and as he was speaking with his followers, he declared: "These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."(1) The Lord Jesus Christ is the Comforter and the Spirit of truth. And, the Comforter is the Holy Ghost. Yes, Jesus Christ is the Holy Ghost!

In support of that which is stated above, there are some important words from the Holy Bible to consider very closely. As the Apostle Paul was speaking to those who loved and truly followed the Lord Jesus Christ, he declared: "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood."(1) And again, these words are very important, for they reveal an important truth.

Based on what the Apostle Paul said, the Holy Ghost was the one who made these particular people overseers. And, note also that the Holy Ghost had purchased the church of God with his own blood. And, the one who purchased the church of God was the Lord Jesus Christ, who died, was raised from the dead by God the Father in heaven, and which risen and glorified Christ then took on the form of the Holy Ghost. And, the Holy Bible indicates further the true nature of the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

The Holy Bible declares: "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)(1) And, the risen and glorified Lord Jesus Christ is the Holy Ghost which is now given to the true people of God.

Now, let's summarize things stated above in this section. To those who do truly keep and obey the authentic commandments of Christ, the Spirit of truth shall come and dwell with them and shall actually be in them. The Spirit of truth shall also guide his people into all truth. And, the Spirit of truth is the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in Christ's name. And then, as the Lord Jesus Christ clearly proclaimed: "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you."

Yes, it is the Lord Jesus Christ, in the form of the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, which comes to his people and dwells within them. Truly, the very Son of God dwells within those who obey the commandments of God and Christ...and, God was in Christ (1). When it comes to the Son of God dwelling within his people, consider the following words from the Apostle Paul: "But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, to reveal his Son in me..."(1) Yes, God's Son was in him!

And now, there is something important to note, to those who have truly repented of their evil ways and then turned to walk in the true way of God and Christ. In the Holy Bible, it is written: "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."(1)

FINDING  WHY  JEWS  ARE  TRULY  CALLED  "JEWS"

There is another thing to learn about the Lord Jesus Christ. Of him, it is written: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."(1) The Word of God was put into a body of flesh, into that man, the Lord Jesus Christ, for the purpose of showing humanity the genuine truth about the things of God...plus to shed his blood and make the way for our salvation...if we will truly believe and fully follow him in the true way (1)(2)(3)(4)(5).

Because Jesus is the Word, and because --- as noted earlier --- he is the Spirit of truth which can guide us into all truth, let us begin to look into the written Word of God in order to find out the truth about why Jews are actually called "Jews". Now, for those who are new to these things, the written Word of God is also called the Holy Bible. The genuine Holy Bible has enough information intact that we can come to the real truth about why Jews are called "Jews". It is truly all found in the written and preserved Word of God.

To obtain the full truth about Jews and why they are called "Jews", plus to come to the true understanding about what a true Jew actually is, we must look at things in both the Old Testament and New Testament of the genuine Holy Bible. Furthermore, it appears that most or virtually all of the altered or watered-down "modern translations" will not quite do the proper job for us, when it comes to finding out the real truth on many very important issues. So, let us now begin to search the Holy Bible for the real truth about Jews.

Now, there is something very important to note and keep in mind. In the Holy Bible, it states: "And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me: Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: that the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things."
(1)

At this point, there is something extremely important to note. At the beginning of humanity, there was not a people who were called "Jews". For the most part, after the fall of humanity at the garden of Eden (1)(2), when they through disobedience (1) fell away from the true way of God, the people ended up being just pagan Gentiles. These pagan Gentiles did not know God, therefore they were not walking in the true way of God. And then, out of the pagan Gentiles, God took a people for his name. And now, who or what is God?

In answer to the above question, the Lord Jesus Christ declared the following to the woman at the well, "Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."(1) Yes, God is a Spirit. But, he is not just any old spirit. God is a very particular Spirit.

And again, as noted further above, God did visit the Gentiles. The true Spirit of God came and visited those which were possibly just pagan Gentiles, "to take out of them a people for his name." The true Spirit of God visited Abram, who was from Ur of the Chaldees (1), and told him to separate himself (1) from his people. Yes, he was to separate himself from his country of birth and especially from these Gentiles who were pagan idol worshipers (1). By the way, the same call from God (1)(2)(3) is to the people of our day.

Again, the Lord Jesus Christ told the woman at the well that "the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him." And, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." Yes, the true worshipers of the authentic Spirit of God are ONLY those who truly "worship him in spirit and in truth." Anyone doing anything less than that is not a true worshiper of the authentic God of heaven. They are simply pagan Gentiles and gamers in religion.

Now, the Jews were told to be circumcised. And, to the rebellious Jews, the following was declared: "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye."(1) Yes, the males of the rebellious Jews had been circumcised in the foreskin of their flesh, but there was a different circumcision which needed to take place so they could be authentic Jews. They needed to be circumcised in their heart and ears, so that they could truly hear and follow the genuine Spirit of God.

When it comes to what a true Jew actually is, the following is written in the Holy Bible: "For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."(1) For a true Jew, the Law of God (1) is not written on tables of stone, but on the fleshy tables (1) of their heart (1)(2), that they will then (1) be obedient and actually walk in the true way of God.

THE  CHILDREN  OF  ISRAEL  AND  A  NAME

For those new to the Holy Bible, in the Old Testament book of Genesis, it speaks about a man named Jacob. It speaks about many things which Jacob did, plus many experiences which he had. And then, in Genesis chapter 32, it shows Jacob getting a name change. Regarding this event, it shows that Jacob wrestled with a man, in whom was God. And after the period of wresting, the man told Jacob: "Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed."(1)

Unto Israel (formerly called Jacob) was born a number of sons and a daughter. Now, the decendants of Israel and his immediate children became collectively known as the children of Israel. Well, there came a time when there was a famine (1)(2) in the Middle East, and, prior to the famine, a son of Israel whose name was Joseph was made a ruler (1) over the land of Egypt. During the famine, Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, told Joseph to have the whole family (1) of Israel come to Egypt, so they could be preserved during the famine.

After the Pharaoh died which knew Joseph, a new king (1) or Pharaoh took control of Egypt. At that point, the children of Israel began to be horribly (1) mistreated. They were turned into slaves by the Egyptians. Later, God called (1) Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egyptian captivity, after which they were led into the wilderness (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)(9). Now, while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, as they were being led by Moses, and after Aaron had been made a priest, something interesting happened.

In the Holy Bible, in the Old Testament book of Numbers, it is written: "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: the LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: the LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them."(1) Put whose name upon the children of Israel?

Now, the following was later declared to the children of Israel, through the mouth of Moses: "And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: and all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God."(1) And now, let us consider the blessings which were proclaimed.

Moses clearly proclaimed what it would be like, if the children of Israel were fully obedient unto God and walked in his true way. It is written: "Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out."(1) And, there is still more.

Regarding even more blessings from God, if the children of Israel were obedient to God, Moses declared: "The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."(1) And, there is yet more to the blessings which God would give.

It is written further: "The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee."(1) Stop here! Whose name would an obedient children of Israel be called by? Yes, they would be called by the very name of the LORD their God. Yes, they would be called by the name of God, as we shall see in the next section.

At this point, there is something very important to note...and let is be a lesson to any which call themselves God's people. If the children of Israel were not fully obedient to the commandments of the LORD their God, the incredible blessings would not come upon them. If they were disobedient and rebellious to God, they would be punished, rather than blessed. And, if the children of Israel would not hear when they were called to come back to the true way of God, their punishment could end up being extremely severe (1), indeed.

THE  NAME  OF  GOD

In the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, in the book of Psalms, it is written: "Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him."(1)

Now, there is something to consider. Since the name of God was placed upon (1)(2) the children of Israel, are they supposed to be called "Jahs", rather than "Jews"? The answer is NO!, not at all! Since the Jews were not to openly reveal (1)(2)(3) the name of God, especially to outsiders, it appears that the translators of the Holy Bible did the best that they could with the information available to them. Note also in the Holy Bible that Noah (of the great flood fame) has also been written as "Noe" by some (1)(2)(3) of the translators.

Again, there is reason to suspect that the translators of the Holy Bible did their best with the information which was available to them, when it comes to the name of God being written as "JAH" in the book of Psalms, chapter 68, verse 4. So, let us at least see what is said about the special name which was supposed to be in that particular Psalm. A page linked here defines "Jah" as "the sacred name" of God. And again, God took the children of Israel to be his special people and he placed his very name upon them.

At this point, there is reason to suspect that when God placed his name upon the children of Israel, he actually placed his sacred name upon them. And, since the children of Israel --- at least in the standard English language --- are called "Jews", there is plenty of reason to suspect that "Jew" is the actual name of God, or the most sacred name of God. And, because the sacred name of God was placed upon his people Israel, and they were called God's people, there was then much to be expected of them.

Now, there is something very important to note in the Holy Bible, plus something which is a serious warning to all who call themselves God's people. It is shown that the children of Israel, who are commonly called "Jews", did not faithfully walk in the true way of God. Because of this, God had to punish the rebellious people by sending them into captivity under the rule of their enemies. And, while they were in captivity, there was a man among them who was faithful to God. This man's name was Daniel.

While in Babylonian captivity, Daniel was praying to God for the children of Israel who had majorly sinned against God. In part, the following words from this prayer of Daniel are recorded in the Holy Bible: "And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly."(1) Yes, God brought the children of Israel out of Egyptian captivity by his mighty hand, but they turned and sinned against God.

And, the prayer of Daniel continues with these words: "O LORD, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us."(1) Yes, because of their major sins and rebellion against the true way of God, Jerusalem and the children of Israel ended up being looked down upon by those around them.

And again, the prayer of Daniel continues with these words: "Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies."(1)

And then Daniel prays these words to God: "O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name."(1) Yes, the city of God and his people are both called by the name of God. His people are commonly called Jews, plus the name of God is inserted into the beginning of the name of the city of Jerusalem. And now, the reader should clearly understand why Jews have been called Jews.

A  WARNING  TO  ANY  WHO  CALL  THEMSELVES  JEWS

While the children of Israel were in the wilderness by the Mount Sinai, God, via the hand of Moses, gave to the Israelites his ten commandments (1)(2) which were written on a table of stone. One of those extremely important commandments is this: "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain."(1)(1) This particular commandment was actually an incredible warning to the children of Israel, plus to all humanity.

If the children of Israel --- or any one of them or even anyone else who is not of their bloodline --- takes upon themselves the very name of God, to be called by his sacred name "Jew", at that point there is a very great requirement which God places upon that person or that group of people. They had better not take the sacred name upon them in vain. In other words, they had better be diligently walking in the true way of God and Christ, for if not, there will be a horrendous price to pay...because God will not hold them guiltless.

In the Holy Bible, in the book of Psalms, it is written: "Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men. For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain."(1) In the Holy Bible, in the book of Revelation, the heavenly Jesus Christ states that "I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan."(1) And, there is more about this type of situation to consider.

Looking elsewhere in the book of Revelation, the Lord Jesus Christ --- who is now in heaven --- has clearly proclaimed: "Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie..."(1) At this point, there is something very important to note. There are actually two types of people which are classing themselves as being Jews. There are true Jews, and there are those which are actually fake Jews. In relation to this type of situation, once again, the Holy Bible proclaims the following:

"For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."(1) Now, when it comes to those who are true Jews --- who are Jews both in their heart and in their spirit --- it should be noted that the Lord Jesus Christ is declared to be the king of the Jews (1)(2).

And now, let us consider some important words from the Lord Jesus Christ. He clearly proclaimed: "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."(1)

Those who are actually genuine Jews are ONLY those who are doing the true will of God the Father, who is the authentic God of heaven. ONLY those who are walking in the true way of God and Christ are the true children of God. All others who are walking in any other way are simply religious gamers and deceivers. And, as noted earlier (1) in this presentation, those who do not have a genuine love of the truth and the true way of God, well, God shall send them a lie to believe, that they shall then be damned.

THE  TWO  JEWS

There is something interesting to note in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible. When the children of Israel were in captivity, their captors appeared to clearly understand that there were two types of Jews. There were those which were just called Jews, because they were part of the children of Israel. And then, there were the authentic Jews which were actually of the genuine "seed" of the Jews. Let us now begin to look into this story about the two types of Jews, which story is found in the Old Testament of the authentic Holy Bible.

To be continued ...

This is a healthy start on that which shall ultimately be included in this presentation.
There is more which needs to be shown. Check back later for additional information.
