CASCADIA:

The  Dividing  Line

... and  more ...

Includes a look at the major Stretching and Distorting
of various things in California, plus considers possibly
a somewhat more realistic location for the boundary
between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate.

"We learn geology the morning after the earthquake, on ghastly diagrams
of cloven mountains, upheaved plains, and the dry bed of the sea."

The above words were proclaimed by Ralph Waldo Emerson, in the late 1800s. (1)(2)(3)
Emerson's words appear to be just as true today, as they were in the latter 1800s.

There is reason to suspect that many survivors of the next, massive Cascadia
earthquake may learn what the true geology is, beneath the Cascadia region.

Survivors may then realize that the scientists' predictions were actually wrong.
Now, some history of scientists being wrong is introduced in this presentation.

Scientists have been seriously wrong in a number of earthquake predictions.
Let us not blindly trust everything the oft-erring scientists say about Cascadia.
Let's not live with a false sense of security, but let us examine the real situation.

PART  ONE

CONSIDERING  THE  TRUE  "DIVIDING  LINE"

The "Dividing Line" or fault which scientists commonly indicate is the "trigger" that is associated with massive Cascadia earthquakes, is that roughly 600 mile long, north-south trending fault line in the bottom of the Pacific Ocean which they call the "Cascadia Subduction Zone." The so-called "Cascadia Subduction Zone" is located about 70-100 miles off the West Coast of the United States. Now, there is another option to consider, when it comes to the actual "Dividing Line" and "trigger" which may be the true cause of those massive Cascadia earthquakes. It's time for possibly a much better story.

In earlier times, the North American continent moved westward across the ocean. In its "voyage," it was headed toward a north-south trending section of the mid-ocean ridge system. This oceanic ridge system is spoken about in pages linked below. Now, the page linked here and in the button-cluster below declares: "The massive mid-ocean ridge system is a continuous range of underwater volcanoes that wraps around the globe like seams on a baseball, stretching nearly 65,000 kilometers (40,390 miles)." Yes, this ridge system is marked along its length by thousands of underwater volcanoes.

At this point, there is something else which is important to note about this oceanic feature which is now commonly called the Mid-Ocean Ridge. The page linked below mentions the finding of the oceanic ridge by the Germans in the period after World War I, using the boat which, in 1925, they had outfitted for mapping deep sea topography...apparently in their search for gold. It also notes that the finding of the Mid-Ocean Ridge supports Alfred Wegener's theory of continental drift. And now, there is something even more important to note about the Mid-Ocean Ridge system.

The page states: "In 1953, American physicists Maurice Ewing (1906-1974) and Bruce Heezen (1924-1977) discovered that through this underwater mountain range ran a deep canyon. In some places the canyon, called the Great Global Rift, came very close to land. The rift appeared to be breaks in the earth's crust, but perfectly fitted breaks, like joints made by a carpenter. The rift outlined chunks of the earth's crust, which were named tectonic (from a Greek word for 'carpenter') plates." Yes, there is a deep canyon, or a big rift, in this underwater mountain range. Keep this firmly in mind.

Now, is there plenty of information available about the big volcanic rift along the Mid-Ocean Ridge, to be found on the internet? Well, a person could almost think that the Great Global Rift --- that great volcanic valley --- is CLASSIFIED information, because it seems there is so little information about it on the internet. The pages linked below which speak of this volcanic valley --- the Great Global Rift --- along the Mid-Ocean Ridge, are basically all the writer could find on the internet, without doing a very extended search. Really, it's not that much info, is it?

WESTWARD  VOYAGE  AND  THE  GREAT  COLLISION

Now, in its westward "voyage," as the North American continent arrived at that north-south trending section of the oceanic ridge, it didn't just stop moving. Because of this, there was an incredible collision, as the westward moving continent slammed violently into islands and other features atop the ridge system, plus slammed into some under-sea mountains which were located further north along the ridge system. The oceanic islands became embedded into the continent, to become the Klamath Mountains. Some under-sea mountains was thrust upward, to become the Olympic Mountains.

The Klamath Mountains, being former oceanic islands, and the Olympic Mountains, formerly being undersea mountains, are spoken about in pages linked below. Now, in a page linked here and in the cluster below, it states: "The rocks of the Klamath Mountains originated as island arcs and continental fragments in the Pacific Ocean...created over subduction zones." Actually, it appears that the islands were created over the oceanic rift system, which was then overridden by the westward moving continent and then pushed over or deformed to the west, to then look like a subduction zone.

Then there is the page linked here and within the cluster of buttons below. About one-third of the way down in the page, it states: "The Klamath Mountains originated...as a volcanic island arc, which was accreted onto the moving North American continent." It appears that the volcanic island arc was originally situated on top of the ancient oceanic ridge system. And again, the westward moving, now North American continent, slammed violently into these islands and embedded the islands into the landmass, all the way inland to what is now the Cascade Mountains. Yes, it was a powerful collision.

Now, turning to consider the Olympic Mountains, the page linked here, and also within the button-cluster below, states: "The summit rock of the Olympic Mountains was once the floor of the Pacific Ocean." And, as the page shows, mixed in with this ocean floor material is lava which had been erupted underwater. It appears that this lava actually erupted from the ancient oceanic ridge system, which the North American continent powerfully collided with and overrode, in its westward "voyage" across the great ocean in earlier times (1)(2).

VOLCANIC  RIDGE / RIFT  SHEARED-OFF  AND  DEEPLY  BURIED

After the North American continent collided with and overrode the oceanic ridge system, this volcanic "Dividing Line" ended up sheared off, to become a rift embedded beneath --- about 21 miles below the surface of --- the continental landmass. So, let us consider where this rift --- or this "Dividing Line" --- resides beneath the landmass. Beginning in the Puget Sound region, it appears that in Washington and Oregon, the rift resides somewhere beneath the Interstate-5 (I-5) freeway corridor. That buried rift is what has "fed" the eruptions of the volcanoes in the Cascade Mountain Range.

Now, in Northern California, the Interstate-5 freeway passes to the west of Mount Shasta. And, it appears that the deeply buried, former oceanic rift is what has "fed" the eruptions of Mount Shasta. From Mount Shasta, it appears that the track of the now deeply buried oceanic rift turns to the southeast and heads toward Lassen Peak --- also know as Mount Lassen --- and has "fed" the eruptions of that volcanic feature. From there, the buried oceanic rift resides under the geologic trough known as the Walker Lane RIFT SYSTEM and has "fed" the volcanic features along that geologic trough.

In its southward track, it appears that the buried rift resides beneath the north-south trending valleys which lie to the east of the Sierra Nevada. From there, looking even further to the south, it appears that the buried rift resides somewhere beneath the Eastern California Shear Zone. From there, the path of the deeply buried rift system continues southward, all the way to the northern end of the Gulf of California, where the oceanic rift continues southward as the ridge in the bottom of the gulf. Now, along virtually the whole length of the buried oceanic rift, volcanic features clearly identify its location.

When it comes to the main row of volcanoes in California, Oregon and Washington, check out the map at the top of the page linked below. The map clearly shows the major row of volcanoes in these three West Coast states, which follows the Walker Lane, to the east of the Sierra Nevada, and the Cascade Mountain Range in Oregon and Washington. There are a couple of volcanic features along the western coast of California, but these may be more isolated "hot spots", somewhat like the hot spot which is under Hawaii, or the hot spot under Yellowstone, in Wyoming.

At this point, there is something else which is very important to note about the map in the page linked below. Look closely at the western margin of California, where the San Andreas Fault is located. What is missing here? Yes, very clearly, there is no extended row of many volcanoes along the western margin of California. This should be further evidence that the overridden and deeply buried oceanic-rift system does not lie beneath the San Andreas Fault. And then, later in this presentation, we shall consider the lack of many large gold deposits along the San Andreas. Keep this in mind.

INFO  ABOUT  WALKER  LANE  RIFT  SYSTEM

Take some time to check through the information linked below, to learn more about the Walker Lane Rift System. The page linked here and in the buttons below declares: "The Walker Lane belt of eastern California and western Nevada is the northernmost extension of the Gulf of California transtensional rift, where the process of continental rupture has not yet been completed, and rift initiation can be studied on land." The page notes that the Walker Lane accommodates movement "between the Sierra Nevada microplate and the North American plate." Keep this in mind.

When considering what happened in earlier times, the page linked above declares: "Rifting succeeded very quickly in the Gulf of California, due to stalling of Farallon slabs, but the Walker Lane transtensional rift has been unzipping northward along the axis of the Cascades arc, following the Mendocino triple junction." So, the rifting of the landmass can occur very quickly. And, the Walker Lane has been unzipping northward. Well, is there a chance that in the future, California could be violently ripped loose from the United States? Imagine the deadly and utterly devastating earthquake from that one!

Regarding what is coming upon this earth at some point in the days ahead, the following is written in an ancient book of wisdom: "And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found."(1) Are you ready for it?

WALKER  LANE  /  GULF  OF  CALIFORNIA  RIFT

The link below accesses a Summary for Chapter 4 in the book titled Extensional Tectonics: Rifting and Continental Extension. Chapter 4 in the book is an introduction "to an active, superbly well-exposed, and highly accessible oblique rift: the Walker Lane--Gulf of California oblique rift." The page states: "The Walker Lane rift is an archetype of the first stage of oblique continental rifting, thinning of continental lithosphere, while its southern extension, the Gulf of California, is in the second stage, where the continent has ruptured and seafloor spreading is underway."

Regarding the Walker Lane and Gulf of California rifting, the Summary states further: "Both segments were born in the axis of pre-existing extensional continental arcs, where the lithosphere was thinned and thermally weakened. However, the Gulf of California opened more quickly, because the entire Baja California Peninsula (1220 km long) was transferred to the Pacific plate all at once, while the Walker Lane is opening by progressive south-to-north unzipping." So again, it appears that the Walker Lane "is the northernmost extension of the Gulf of California transtensional rift." (1)

In the paragraph above, there is something to note further. The quote states that "the Gulf of California opened more quickly, because the entire Baja California Peninsula (1220 km long) was transferred to the Pacific plate all at once" So, as the Summary states, Baja California is fully on the Pacific plate. And, it seems to be clear that Baja California is being moved generally northwesterly on the Pacific Plate and is pushing against the U.S. state of California. Between Baja and California is the San Andreas fault. But, the actual rift is unzipping northward via the Walker Lane.

VOLCANISM  WITHIN  WALKER  LANE  RIFT  SYSTEM

The page linked below speaks about the volcanic fields within the Walker Lane, which Walker Lane lies to the east of the Sierra Nevada. Now, the page declares: "Nearly all rock east of the Sierra Nevada is volcanic in origin." It also states: "Mono-Inyo Craters is a chain of craters, domes and lava flows stretching 25 km on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada between Mono Lake and Long Valley caldera. There are 35 rhyolitic domes, lava flows and tephra rings. They erupted near the margin of a pull-apart basin." Yes, they erupted near the margin of a pull-apart or rifting basin.

The volcanic activity east of the Sierra Nevada, in the Walker Lane Rift System, identifies the location of the overridden and deeply buried oceanic rift system. On the other hand, look at the San Andreas Fault. There is no line of volcanoes anywhere along its length. And, no volcanoes have erupted anywhere along the San Andreas in recorded history. Based on what is seen, it should be obvious that the deeply buried, volcanic oceanic rift system does not lie beneath the San Andreas Fault. The rift resides to the east of the Sierra Nevada, beneath the many volcanic features of the Walker Lane.

Now, the pages linked below speak about volcanic plumbing systems, volcanic vents, fissure vents, volcanic fields, and even large volcanic centers in the eastern part of the Sierra Nevada and also in the Walker Lane. It should be noted that most of the volcanic features were created within pull-apart basins which exist within the Walker Lane, with only some of the volcanic features being in the eastern Sierra Nevada. The pages also speak about grabens and half grabens, which makes sense where the landmass is rifting over that deeply buried, formerly oceanic rift system.

Within the linked pages, it also speaks of voluminous eruptions of magmas in the Walker Lane, at the birth of a plate margin. In the 54-page document, it speaks of those large volcanic centers which are located at the releasing fault stepovers. Within that document, on PDF page 3 of 54, it notes that the Sierran microplate "currently accommodates 20-25% of the plate motion between the Pacific and the North American plates." On PDF page 5 of 54, it indicates that the central part of the Walker Lane has a structure similar to the Gulf of California transtensional rift basins.

For those who have an interest in the many volcanoes and other volcanic features which reside to the east of the Sierra Nevada, in the Walker Lane, just take some time to check through the pages linked below. There are some interesting pictures, plus some good geologic illustrations and maps found in a number of those pages. So, what has "fed" all this volcanic activity which has occurred over time? Well, there is plenty of reason to suspect that it is that ancient oceanic, now overridden, sheared-off and deeply buried, volcanic rift system.

MOST  SIMILAR  TO  GULF  OF  CALIFORNIA  FEATURES

On PDF page 5 of 54, the document linked below, once again, declares that the central part of the Walker Lane Belt "has the structure that is the most similar to Gulf of California transtensional rift basins..." That is likely because the ancient oceanic rift is deeply buried beneath the surface of the landmass in the region of the Walker Lane Belt. On PDF page 11 of 54, it notes "very large volcanic centers at transtensional fault stepovers along eastern margin of Sierra Nevada microplate..." Yes, it appears that the ancient rift is buried below the valleys to the east of the Sierra Nevada.

And now, there is more to consider. There is reason to suspect that it is activity along the deeply buried, former oceanic ridge and rift, which may trigger those massive Cascadia earthquakes. And, as for that fault line which the scientists call the Cascadia Subduction Zone, there is reason to suspect that it is the edge of a slab of ocean floor to the west of the oceanic rift system, which was violently broken loose when the now North American continent, in its westward travel, powerfully collided with the islands and undersea mountains which were associated with the ridge system.

SIGNS  OF  AN  INCREDIBLE  COLLISION

So, how powerful and how quickly did the now North American continent collide with the islands and undersea mountains on the ridge and rift system? Well, it appears that the collision was so powerful that it changed the direction which the Pacific Plate was moving. And, it appears that the collision happened so quickly that it created that sharp, 60-degree bend in the forming Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain...which seamount chain and its very sharp bend is spoken about in the pages linked below...which pages give various ideas about what caused the bend...but maybe not the true story.

Now, there is something to consider. If the North American continent had just been slowly inching across the ocean, to then start putting pressure against the islands on the rift which became the Klamath Mountains, plus putting pressure on those undersea mountains which became the Olympic Mountains, things would look different along the Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain. Pressure from a slow moving "collision" would have put a long, curved bend in the seamount chain. The sharp, 60-degree bend shows that things were moving and happening fast in the massive collision.

PART  TWO

CONSIDERING  THE  NORTHWARD  MOVEMENT  OF  BAJA

At this point, let us take a few moments to consider the creation of the Gulf of California. The creation of the gulf occurred because of the northwesterly movement of Baja California, after it appears to have been solidly "captured" by the northwesterly moving Pacific Plate.

The page linked below notes geologic features related to California. Then it goes on to state: "These features suggest that Baja California initially lay 300 miles to the southeast, against the continental-margin bulge of Jalisco. The Gulf of California may be a pull-apart feature caused by strike-slip displacement plus up to 100 miles of cross-strike separation of the continental plate, subcontinental materials having welled up into the rift gap." So, it appears that Baja California originally was 300 miles to the southeast, before it was ripped loose from Mexico and shoved to the northwest.

Now, there is an exercise which the reader can do, in order to clearly see the roughly 300 mile northwest movement of Baja California, after it was ripped loose from the mainland of Mexico. Open Google Earth Pro. Zoom in, so the southern tip of Baja California in near the top of your screen, with the ocean water mainly aross your screen from top to bottom, with the bulge in the landmass where Sayulita resides (near Puerto Vallarta) showing near the bottom of your screen. Now, using the "Ruler" tool in Google Earth, measure the distance between Baja and Sayulita. What distance do you find?

At this point, look closely at that "notch" or indentation which is in the west coast of the mainland of Mexico. That is where the southern tip of Baja California was formerly attached to the mainland, before it was ripped loose by the movement of the Pacific Plate and moved quite a ways to the northwest. And now, what was the distance you measured in Google Earth, between the southern tip of Baja and the "notch" in the west coast of Mexico? Yes, it is approximately 300 miles. Again, this is the distance which Baja California has moved to the northwest, since it was ripped loose.

As this section comes to a close, take some time to check out the pages linked below. The first linked page provides pieces of interesting information about Baja California. The second and third linked pages consider Baja California being separated even further from the mainland of Mexico in the future, thereby becoming an island. One page notes Baja being "24 meters further south" when the Spanish arrived in the New World. Then, The Birth of Baja page speaks of the Gulf of California being formed by "erupting volcanoes and the violence of geology."

PRESSURE  FROM  BAJA  HELPING  RAISE  THE  SIERRA  NEVADA ?

The pages linked below provide quite a bit of information, plus a number of different thoughts, about the uplift and creation of the Sierra Nevada...which is a tilted fault-block mountain system. Now, when it comes to the north-northwest to south-southeast alignment (1)(2)(3) of the Sierra Nevada, the writer has wondered if "the squeeze" or "wedging effect" put on California by north-northwesterly moving Baja California could have anything to do with the rising up of the Sierra Nevada in earlier times. Just something to think about. And then, there is more to consider.

Is there a chance that magma injection (1)(2) occurred under the eastern portion of the Sierra Nevada Block? Could a large amount of magma have come from the sheared off and buried oceanic rift system, which appears to reside beneath the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada? Could a large amount of powerfully injected magma, via hydraulic pressure, have helped to raise the eastern edge of this tilted fault-block mountain range? When it comes to magma, it should be noted that, especially in earlier times, there was a lot of volcanic activity happening to the east of the Sierra Nevada.

Pages linked below speak about powerful volcanic systems which reside on the east side of the Sierra Nevada, plus to the north and south of it. In certain of the pages, it also speaks about the Clear Lake volcanic field, which appears to be the only active volcanic area on the west side of California, in its northern Coast Ranges. The Clear Lake area is about 31 miles (50 km) to the east of the San Andreas Fault, and not on top of it. On the other hand, the volcanic features in eastern California reside above or very near to the deeply buried, former oceanic rift and have been "fed" by it.

IT  APPEARS  THINGS  CAN  HAPPEN  RATHER  QUICKLY

When it comes to sections of land being shifted on this Earth, plus sections of the landmass being tilted or lifted up to great heights, it seems that people --- especially many of those scientists --- tend to judge almost everything happening upon this Earth at the slow rate which we, geologically, see things moving along today. But, in the past, things have not always moved at the slow, "inching along" rates which we see today. At certain points in history, certain geologic things have actually happened rather stunningly fast. And, it appears that things shall happen fast at some point in the future.

When it comes to how fast things can actually happen upon this earth, there is something to consider...which is found in that ancient book of wisdom. Within it, the following is written:
"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"
(1)

Now, in the authentic Holy Bible, it speaks about the sun, moon and stars. Only in one place in the complete, authentic Holy Bible does it use the word "planets". Generally, in the Holy Bible, if a lit-up natural feature in the sky is not the sun or the moon, it falls under the classification of a star. So, in the event written about in the paragraph above, what are those "stars" which shall mightily be falling to the earth, when every mountain and island are moved out of their places?

It shall be asteroids falling and slamming violently into the earth, which shall quickly move all the mountains and islands out of their places. As a further note, asteroids simply look like points of light in the night sky. The average human, when looking up into the night sky, would just call the asteroids "stars". And, how many asteroids are there up above us, which could come crashing to Earth in that special event? Well, a page linked here indicates that there are about 22-million asteroids drifting around above our heads. And in the mighty barrage...well...

In that quote a few paragraphs above, it shows all those people frantically looking for a place to hid, when that massive event begins to happen. By the way, there is reason to suspect that the billionaire rocketmen --- like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson --- shall be among those terrified ones running for cover. They shall be running for cover, when they find that their puny rockets (1)(2)(3)(4)(5) are no match for a mighty barrage of numerous high-speed, high-energy asteroids which are miles across, that are slamming violently into earth and moving the mountains and islands around.

ASTEROIDS  DIVIDED  THE  LAND,  MOVED  CONTINENTS

At this point, there are a number of things to consider. In a page linked here, it speaks about Alfred Wegener and his 1912 concept of continental drift. But, there were critics of Wegener's continental drift theory, because it did not include a force which was sufficient to move the continents around on the Earth. Then, a page linked here shows that in 1962, the concept of sea-floor spreading was used to explain the movement of the continents. And, the document linked here shows that the theory of plate tectonics was created and used to further explain the movement of the continents.

Well, looking at the pages linked below, it appears that the concepts of sea-floor spreading and plate tectonics may actually be somewhat unnecessary, when it comes to explaining how the continents were created and moved across the face of the Earth. It appears that the single, original landmass upon Earth was broken into separate continents by impacting asteroids. And, there is reason to suspect that asteroid impacts then moved the continents somewhat near to their present locations.

So, when did the dividing of the single landmass into continents occur? It there anything written about this dividing? Well, in that ancient book of wisdom is found the following words: "And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan."(1) And, in another place it is written: "And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother's name was Joktan."(1) Just a couple things to think about.

Now, back to more mundane and mellow things...like Cascadia and a mere earthquake.

PART  THREE

LOOKING  CLOSER  AT  "THE  DIVIDING  LINE"

Let us now look closer at the "Dividing Line" upon which the next massive and extremely deadly Cascadia earthquake event may likely be centered. In the left column of a document linked here, there is a section titled Geologic Setting. In that section, it states: "The Washington Coast Range and Olympic Mountains represent part of a forearc sliver that is moving northward relative to the Cascade Range..." Well, there is actually a lot more to the story than just the Washington Coast Range and Olympic Mountains moving northward.

The page linked below notes some paleomagnetic studies which were done. The results of the studies indicate "that the Coast Range has moved northward several hundred kilometres, relative to stable North America." By what is said in the page title, it appears that the Coast Ranges in both Oregon and Washington have been moved northward, as it appears they have some type of a link to the generally northward moving Pacific Plate, rather than being solidly tied to the stable North American Plate on which the Cascade Mountain Range resides.

The page linked below declares: "Geologic and paleomagnetic data from the Cascadia forearc indicate long-term northward migration and clock-wise rotation of an Oregon coastal block with respect to North America." So, it appears that the Oregon coastal block has been pushed northward for quite some time. There is reason to suspect that it has been pushed northward by other, more southerly "blocks" in the landmass which are attached, to one degree or another, to the general northward moving Pacific Plate.

Now, the page linked below declares: "On the largest scale, the Pacific NW is the scene of a collision between the North American tectonic plate and the Pacific plate, with the Pacific plate motion NNW in relation to North America." Further down, the page states: "The motion of the Pacific Plate is dragging the Sierra Nevada block NNW, and in turn this block is pushing the Oregon Block northward." Note clearly that the Pacific Plate is dragging the Sierra Nevada block, in California, in a north-northwest direction. It appears that the Sierra Nevada block is somewhat caught by the Pacific Plate.

The above information clearly indicates that the dividing line between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate, in California, lies to the east of the Sierra Nevada block. The true dividing line appears to follow the Walker Lane Rift System, which system is spoken about in PART ONE of this presentation. And, as noted in PART ONE, "The Walker Lane belt of eastern California and western Nevada is the northernmost extension of the Gulf of California transtensional rift, where the process of continental rupture has not yet been completed, and rift initiation can be studied on land."

At this point, let us return to the page linked below, where it shows that the Sierra Nevada block is pushing the Oregon Block northward. The page goes on to state: "But the Washington Coast block has nowhere to go, as it is constrained by the Canadian Coastal Mountains Buttress, so it is getting squeezed from Oregon to the South and Canada to the north, and this resistance is also rotating the Oregon block clockwise."

So, once again, the Oregon Block seems to be doing its best, in its attempt to push the Washington Coast block northward. So, where is there a sign of that earlier movement along the north-south trending, deeply buried oceanic rift system, which can clearly be noted? Well, the writer shall let the reader think on that one for a bit, while we take another look at the Walker Lane, plus what is going on with a large share of the California landmass.

WALKER  LANE  AND  THE  PLATE  BOUNDARY

The Abstract linked below states: "The Walker Lane is a region of diverse tectonic activity situated along the Pacific-North American plate boundary." Now, above in this presentation, it is shown that, earlier in Earth's history, Baja California was transferred to the Pacific Plate. Baja seems to be "locked" onto the Pacific Plate and is now "a tool" which is pushing against the landmass of California. Therefore, Baja and the state of California to the west of the San Andreas fault show the most movement between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate. And now, there is more to consider.

Earlier in this presentation, it speaks about the westward moving North American continent colliding with, plus overriding, the mid-ocean ridge system. And, it speaks about the sheared off ridge system now being a volcanic rift line which is buried deeply beneath the landmass, somewhere along the Interstate-5 Freeway corridor in Washington and Oregon. Then, in California, the buried rift turns to the southeast. It passes near Lassen Peak --- also known as Mount Lassen --- to then pass beneath the Walker Lane, on the east side of the Sierra Nevada.

Now, when the westward moving North American continent overrode the mid-ocean ridge system, shearing it off and turning it into a deeply buried volcanic rift line, the portion of the landmass to the west of the rift did not become "locked" to the Pacific Plate. Therefore, the portion of the North American continent which lies to the west of the buried rift is not all being moved in a northerly direction as a unit. Instead, Baja California is being used as "a tool" to push, stretch and distort the landmass of the state of California, in a northerly direction.

STRETCHING  AND  DISTORTING  IN  CALIFORNIA

Let us now consider what appears to actually be happening, geologically, in California. The rift line between the Pacific Plate and the stable North American Plate appears to actually reside beneath the Walker Lane. But, the Walker Lane only receives about 20 to 25 percent of the total northerly movement of the Pacific Plate, while the San Andreas Fault region receives a much larger portion of the movement. Again, things happen this way because California is not "locked" to the Pacific Plate. It appears that only Baja California is firmly "locked" to the Pacific Plate.

Baja California is "the tool" which is pushing against the southwestern margin of California, which is causing the unattached landmass of California to be stretched and distorted in a northerly direction. Again, the portion of California which overrode and sheared off the ancient oceanic ridge system, since it is not solidly attached to the Pacific Plate, is now basically "floating" or sliding upon the plate and is being stretched and deformed by the northerly force exerted by Baja California. And now, let us consider what is shown in the map linked below.

Look at all those many, north-trending faults in the coastal region of California, which are in just that area from north of San Francisco Bay to south of Monterey Bay. Then, look at those numbers in the larger colored circles. These numbers show the percentage of northerly movement of the Pacific Plate which is taken up by each of the larger faults. Each area between those major faults allows the landmass to be pushed and distorted in a northerly direction, with the westernmost strip being pushed the furthest north in relation to those north-trending strips of land to the east of it.

By looking at the map, it should be clear that, over time there has been a considerable amount of stretching and distortion which has been taking place along the coastal region of California, all those north-trending faults. And, the map linked below only shows the area from just north of the San Francisco area to just south of Monterey Bay. To get a better picture of the many faults or "tears" in the landmass which have been created as the western margin of California has been forced in a northerly direction, check out the maps linked here and here.

Now, look closely at the maps linked below. Note that in the Central Valley of California, there are only a few, rather small north-trending faults which are discernable. Then, along the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada in the Walker Lane, that is where the remainder of the northward movement from the Pacific Plate is taking place. So, there is something to now say. If the boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate were really along the San Andreas Fault, there should not be that 20 to 25 percent of Pacific Plate movement being taken up, far inland by the Walker Lane.

Let us look closer at the Central Valley of California. The page linked below states that the valley is a large asymmetric trough. This trough "has been filled with as much as 6 vertical miles of sediment in the San Joaquin Valley and as much as 10 vertical miles of sediment in the Sacramento Valley." The thick sediments in this trough are excellent for growing crops, but, the thick sediments are not a good thing, when it comes to massive earthquakes. It is possibly because of the thick sediments that only a few, small, north-trending faults are discernable in the maps above of the valley.

Regarding the Central Valley, the first page linked below metions "the occasional 'roll' of a distant earthquake" felt by valley residents. Then it states: "However, few know that there are actually damaging earthquake-producing faults underlying the valley itself, particularly along its western margin. Here, numerous faults make up what is referred to as the San Joaquin fault zone. These faults are generally not well defined because they are deeply buried by valley sediments." So, the Central Valley could possibly be hit extremely hard, in a massive earthquake.

The second linked page speaks of the earthquake potential of blind fault systems in the Southern San Joaquin Valley. Below the poster is these words: "Since August 2024, the Southern San Joaquin Valley has experienced a series of small to moderate magnitude earthquakes on faults within the CFM, as well as systems that are not yet represented in the model. In particular, blind faults in two regions have experienced this heightened seismicity..." So yes, there are blind faults beneath the Central Valley...which could respond unpredictably in a massive earthquake.

At this point, let us return to the subject of the Oregon coastal block pushing the Washington Coast block in a northerly direction, in relation to the Cascade Mountain Range which is located on the stable North American Plate. Let us see what may be a clear sign of the coastal area having moved northward, in earlier times. Let us also consider where the deeply buried oceanic rift may reside along the Interstate-5 Freeway corridor, where the epicenters could potentially be located during the next, massively destructive and deadly Cascadia earthquake event.

THE  RIVER  APPEARS  TO  IDENTIFY  "THE  DIVIDING  LINE"

The Columbia River flows westward through the Cascade Mountains. But then, at Portland, Oregon, it turns northward and follows the Interstate-5 (I-5) freeway corridor. It continues in this northward flow all the way to Longview, Washington. By Longview, the river again turns, to then flow toward the west and the Pacific Ocean. The broad northward turn at Portland, and the broad westward turn near Longview can be seen on maps accessed by the following links: (1)(2)(3)(4). It appears that the northward shift or offset in the Columbia River at the I-5 corrider marks the point of slippage in the landmass.

The Coast Ranges in Oregon and Washington, plus the Olympic Mountains, are affected by the movement of the Pacific Plate and are all moving northward, relative to the Cascade Mountain Range, which is on the stable North American continent. The point of slippage between the mountains to the west and the mountains to the east generally appears to be along the Interstate-5 freeway corridor. So, will the next massive Cascadia earthquake be centered somewhere along the I-5 corridor? Will the great shaking be very near, or even under the capitals of Olympia, WA, and Salem, OR?

Knowing that the ancient oceanic rift system appears to be buried deeply, somewhere beneath the surface of the landmass, and generally along the I-5 corridor in Washington and Oregon, there is something further to consider. In the next Cascadia earthquake event, could the great shaking actually be along the I-5 corridor, under cities like Seattle and Vancouver, in Washington, plus under cities like Portland, Eugene and Medford, in Oregon? Well, the survivors shall all know the true answer to this question, the day after the massive and utterly stunning Cascadia earthquake.

OFFSET  WATERCOURSES  AT  FAULTS  AND  RIFTS

The pages linked below provide information about, plus a few pictures showing, the offset of watercourses where they cross strike-slip faults which have broken through to the surface of the landmass. The same information could generally be applied to watercourses that cross large rifts which are at or near the surface of the landmass. Now, when it comes to the large offset in the Columbia River, there is something important to note. In Cascadia, things are different for the Columbia River, because it does not cross a surface fault or near-surface rift.

Now, it appears that the ancient, overridden oceanic rift in Cascadia may be buried somewhere around 21-miles below the surface of the overriding North American Plate. Therefore, instead of a relatively sharp offset in the Columbia River as it crosses high above the buried rift, the thickness of the landmass above the buried rift alters the surface effects of its movement. Because of the thickness of the landmass, the effects of rift movement are "masked" on the surface, and harder to discern. So, movement of the deeply buried rift has produced only broad curves in the river offset.

PART  FOUR

CONSIDERING  THOSE  CAPITOL  BUILDINGS

Based on what is said in the pages linked below, it appears that certain Oregon government officials began to be concerned for their safety, when it came to dealing with the effects of a Cascadia earthquake. They may have become concerned that the capitol building could come crashing down upon them during a major Cascadia quake. So, the governor ordered state buildings to be made earthquake-proof. Then, after years of work on the Oregon capitol building, it appears that officials may feel that it is now earthquake-proof.

Well, there is reason to suspect that all that hard work, plus hundreds of millions of dollars spend on the upgrade project, may ultimately be found to have been in vain. There is reason to suspect that they were working to make the capitol building stand up to a Cascadia earthquake which was centered on the so-called "subduction zone" which is located 70 to 100 miles off the coast of Oregon, out in the Pacific Ocean. Well, the massive Cascadia quake may be triggered by the buried oceanic rift, which lies deep beneath the Interstate-5 freeway corridor and is rather near to the capitol building.

Now, let us consider how things may be, if the coming Cascadia earthquake in actually centered rather far inland, somewhere along the I-5 corridor and much closer to the capitol building. The incredible seismic energy which slams into the capitol and violently shakes it may likely far exceed the design limits of the base-isolator system which has been fitted beneath the building. In such a case, the building may end up being greatly damaged or possibly even destroyed, especially if the violent shaking goes on for minutes longer than expected. And, as for any politicians inside, well...

Now, there is the Washington Capitol building at Olympia to consider. The pages linked below show what happened to the building after just that rather wimpy 2001 earthquake. The dome was lifted, rotated and damaged. Then, the damage was repaired and engineers have declared that the building should not receive major damage in an earthquake up to an 8.2 magnitude. Well, what happens if the earthquake is centered far inland, and is a 9.0 magnitude or greater, plus shakes for longer than expected? Well, the lawmakers better hope they are not in session when the Cascadia quake hits.

CONSIDERING  THE  PREDICAMENT  OF  DAMS

At this point, there is something very important to note. When it comes to what will be happening with dams and other infrastructure in the Cascadia region, during the next massive Cascadia earthquake event, virtually all the projections are based on the earthquake being centered on the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone. Well, if the deadly and destructive earthquake is actually triggered by and moves along the path of the ancient oceanic rift which appears to be buried under the I-5 freeway corridor, things shall be drastically different for virtually all the dams in the region.

Basing their thinking on a quake located on the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers already knows that the dam on Detroit Reservoir, east of Salem, Oregon, could fail. Then, there is the page that declares that landslides are a bigger threat to dams than Cascadia. Well, in a massive Cascadia earthquake, there may likely be many large landslides which shall crash into dams and their reservoirs. Then, there's that page about the Willamette valley tsunami. Well, we shall see what really happens, once Cascadia cuts loose in all its glory...along the I-5 corridor.

Now, some of the linked pages speak about the dangerous condition of many of those Oregon dams. Others note that these dams were not built to withstand big quakes. The dams were designed and built long before people realized that the Pacific Northwest could experience devastating "monster" quakes. Because of the dangerous condition of many of those dams, plus because the dams were not designed or built to withstand a "monster" Cascadia quake, there is reason to suspect that many of these dams may seriously fail, if Cascadia breaks loose catastrophically...along the I-5 corridor.

Then, there's the pages linked below to consider. Yes, dams have been known to fail, sometimes in a big way and with a relatively large loss of life. And, dams have much more of a chance of failing during massive earthquakes...like a "monster" Cascadia earthquake that is centered far inland, somewhere along the Interstate-5 freeway corridor and much closer to dams in the region. So, what will be happening with dams in the region during the next "monster" Cascadia event? Well, the survivors shall know the truth...the day after the "monster" quake.

WHAT  WILL  HAPPEN  TO  BRIDGES  AND  ROADS ?

When it comes to what shall be happening to bridges and roads during the next "monster" Cascadia earthquake event, the pages linked below do not present a very pleasant picture. And, it should be noted that these projections are based on an earthquake on the far-offshore, so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone. The projections in the pages linked below are not even based on the possibility of a "monster" Cascadia quake being triggered by the deeply buried oceanic rift system and centered along the Interstate-5 freeway corridor.

On the other hand, there are the pages linked below. They paint a more "rosy" picture. They indicate that bridges and roads will hold up to the Cascadia event. But again, these projections are based on the massive quake being located on the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone. But, what happens if the deadly and devastating Cascadia earthquake event ends up being centered far inland, somewhere along the Interstate-5 freeway corridor? All the writer can really say for sure is this: "We will all know the real truth about the roads and bridges, the day after the killer earthquake occurs."

CASCADIA  AND  A  WORLD-CLASS  FUEL  SPILL

Well, check out the pages linked below. Oregon's Critical Energy Infrastructure facility, or C.E.I. Hub in Portland, is built on unstable soil. This unstable soil is composed of an enormous amount of fill material. To make matters worse, this facility is built directly along the side of the Willamette River. And, as one page states: "More than 90% of Oregon's liquid fuel is stored there, including the gas and diesel supply for the Portland Metro, jet fuel for Portland International Airport, and other hazardous materials." All of this is the makings for a big, smokey fire which spreads all over the place.

Now, it seems that many people are realizing that quite a mess will be created by the C.E.I. Hub when the next Cascadia earthquake occurs. But, once again, they are basing their projections for the magnitude of the disaster and mess upon an earthquake which is centered far offshore at the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone. Well, what is the disaster and mess going to be like if they find that the next Cascadia "monster" quake is triggered by the buried oceanic rift system and is centered far inland, somewhere near the Interstate-5 freeway corridor? We will know the truth, the day after the quake!

HARDER  SHAKING  THAN  MODELED

The pages linked below indicate that the shaking from the next Cascadia earthquake event shall be stronger than people have thought for quite some time. And, the one page indicates that this shaking shall be stronger than those computer models of the seismologists have predicted. Once again, all these projections are based on an earthquake centered on the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone, far offshore in the Pacific Ocean. Now, the region shall definitely get pounded much harder than the computer models predict, if the "monster" quake is centered far inland, along the I-5 corridor.

SHAKING  THOSE  "BOWLS  OF  JELLO"

The pages linked below show that sedimentary basins can shake like Jello in an earthquake. This "Jello" shaking ultimately amplifies and extends the time of shaking for buildings and people. This amplified and extended shaking can work to collapse tall buildings, plus also other buildings of various heights. Some of the pages directly address the situation for Vancouver BC, Seattle WA, Portland OR, and Los Angeles CA. Then, in a page linked here, it indicates that Portland, Oregon can shake like jello for a sustained period of time in an earthquake.

EARTHQUAKES  AND  LANDSLIDES

The pages linked below indicate that a lot of people have died in landslides. And, some very deadly landslides have been associated with earthquakes. Now, there is a page linked below which states that, "Most landslides in western Oregon [are] triggered by heavy rainfall, not big earthquakes." Well, that may be true, because it rains in western Oregon for a whole lot of the time, while sizeable earthquakes generally happen rare occasions. But, if a "monster" quake hits while the ground is thoroughly saturated by rainfall, the landslides may be big and nasty, plus deadly and devastating.

PORTLAND:  DESTRUCTION  AND  MASS  CASUALTIES

As indicated within the cluster of pages linked below, Portland has some serious seismic hazards. Yes, the pages speak of the offshore, so-called subduction zone, while they seem to be ignorant that there may be a major, deeply buried oceanic rift system beneath their feet. Then there are all those local, more surface faults in the Portland area. Possibly the surface faults could be triggered into action, once the buried rift breaks free and has a good movement. And, as the pages indicate, Portland faces widespread destruction and mass casualties. Doubly true if the rift seriously breaks loose.

WHAT  THE  CANADIANS  HAVE  BEEN  SAYING

When it comes to the Canadians, what are their thoughts, plus what does their research show about a massive Cascadia earthquake event? Looking at the pages linked below, they speak of thousands of buildings being damaged or destroyed, plus thousands of Canadian people being killed in a Cascadia event. The pages speak of a devastating tsunami, plus the vulnerability of the Vancouver BC area in a Cascadia event. One page speaks of things in a Cascadia event coming apart like a zipper, plus devastation being of a larger scale that people commonly think. And then, there's the cost...

PART  FIVE

SOUNDING  THE  ALARM

Looking into the first page linked below, note that the scientist, Robert Yeats, was sounding the alarm about devastating Cascadia earthquakes already in 2014. At that time, Yeats proclaimed: "If we have a Cascadia subduction zone earthquake, it's going to devastate Oregon and Washington. It will take us decades to recover." And, Yeats was basing his concerns on the offshore, so-called Cascadia subduction zone, rather than on catastrophic movement of the deeply buried, ancient oceanic rift system which appears to lie somewhere below the I-5 freeway corridor, and closer to population centers.

From what is said in the first linked page, it appears that Yeats knew about and was campaigning about the dangers of a Cascadia earthquake for about 30 years prior to 2014. Yeats was raising the Cascadia alarm, once again, based on what he understood about the earthquake dangers in the Cascadia region at that time. Yes, the so-called Cascadia subduction zone had been discovered, but at that time, it appears that people were not looking for or seeing any signs of a deeply buried, inland rift system under the I-5 corridor, which could trigger multiple fault lines near the surface.

Then there is the second linked page. And again, it appears that people are just looking at the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone as being the trigger for the coming, devastating earthquake. Then, the page speaks of a huge tsunami which may be unleashed by a Cascadia earthquake, plus the potential loss of millions of lives. Well, that is bad enough, but it appears that emergency plans for the region are truly inadequate. To complicate things in the event of a massive earthquake, evacuation routes would be overwhelmed, or possibly even destroyed.

Now, regarding evacuation routes being overwhelmed, there is something to consider. Look at the gridlock or stop-and-go traffic on freeways around cities at rush hour, virtually every workday. This mess on the freeways is happening when there is no emergency involved. Well, when people are utterly freaked-out by a massive earthquake and the devastation which has been happening around them, things may potentially be much worse because of bad drivers on evacuation routes. There may also be a number of vehicle wrecks happening to further hinder an evacuation.

Looking again at the second page linked above, it indicates that a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake is "capable of generating a tsunami hundreds of feet high." Regarding the tsunami event, the page goes on to state: "The event could drown entire coastal cities, cripple infrastructure, and claim millions of lives." Further down in the page it speaks of "coastal land sinking by as much as 6.5 feet instantly, turning entire towns into flood zones before the tsunami waves even arrive." So, let us look at these things further.

CONSIDERING  THE  TSUNAMI  FURTHER,  PLUS  FLOODING

In the pages linked below, note that one page speaks of a 40-foot tsunami from a Cascadia earthquake. Another page speaks of a 100-foot tsunami unleashed by the coming earthquake. Then, there are pages which speak of an incredibly monstrous 1,000-foot Cascadia mega-tsunami. Looking on the internet, it is utterly amazing to see so many pages parroting-out the "1,000 foot mega-tsunami" line. When it comes to the actual size of a Cascadia-earthquake-initiated tsunami, we will all have to wait and see what the true height shall be.

Now, for a moment, let us look at just some of those "1,000 foot mega-tsunami" pages found on the internet. And again, there are many of them to be found. At this point, it should clearly be noted that it is just a major or massive Cascadia earthquake event which is being considered in this presentation, not something like an asteroid violently crashing down into the Pacific Ocean. Yes, under the proper conditions, an asteroid crashing violently down into the Pacific Ocean could potentially create a 1,000 foot tall tsunami, or possibly even one much taller.

Well, there is now the issue of coastal lands sinking, when some type of Cascadia earthquake occurs. It's time for the real truth on this one. When it comes to the amount of coastal sinking, we will know the truth on this issue after the earthquake and tsunami have happened...and not before. Furthermore, any land sinking would also depend on where the quake is centered. Will the quake be centered on the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone, or will it be centered far inland, somewhere along the Interstate-5 freeway corridor, triggered by the deeply buried, ancient oceanic rift?

Now, let us, for a moment, completely ignore the buried rift, which appears to exist far below the Interstate-5 freeway corridor. Let us just consider what is said in the pages linked below...which pages are based only on an earthquake being centered within the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone. When it comes to that particular scenario, it appears that the pages tend to agree on the coastal lands sinking around 7 feet, or a bit less. And, once again, we will only know the truth about the amount of land sinking, after the next Cascadia Earthquake Event has happened.

A  LOT  OF  SEISMIC  ACTIVITY

The page linked below is from January of 2026. It begins with these words: "This month, seismic activity along the west coast has been making headlines almost every single day. Could it be possible that all of this seismic activity is leading up to some sort of a really big event? It should be obvious to everyone that the clock is ticking. I have been sounding the alarm about the potential for apocalyptic seismic events along the west coast for a long time, and now it feels like we are building up to some sort of a crescendo." Yes, Nature and its God are keeping us in suspense about this issue.

The pages linked below provide additional information about some of the West Coast earthquakes in 2026 and just before, which goes beyond what is spoken about in the page linked above. Mixed into the cluster of links below, there may be at least one page which looks kind of "theatrical" and possibly even really hyped up, but the number of quakes that page mentions may be worth looking into further...for those with an interest. Now, it should be noted that stress released at one fault can then create increased stress on other nearby faults, increasing their chance of producing an earthquake.

Then, there are the pages linked below. It appears that stress has been increasing in those faults (which, there are many of them) in California. It appears that stress in a number of faults has hit a historic high. And, it appears the earthquake threat level in California has risen for the first time in 12 years. Now, there has been talk lately about a Cascadia earthquake triggering a disaster on California faults. But, what if it may actually be the other way around? There are instances of earthquakes in California being soon followed by some geologic event further north in Washington.

CALIFORNIA  QUAKE,  THEN  FURTHER  NORTH ...

At the end of PART FIVE, there are pages linked which speak about a massive Cascadia earthquake triggering seismic activity along the San Andreas Fault in California. An event like this may utterly devastate cities and towns of the West Coast states, plus destroy an incredible amount of infrastructure. But, there may actually be more to consider in a scenario like this. Will a Cascadia event set off a seismic catastrophe in California, or could the order actually be reversed? Could a massive California earthquake set off seismic activity in Oregon and Washington?

At this point, let us consider some examples of California quakes possibly setting geologic events in motion as far away as the northern part of Washington state. So, are the events which shall now be considered connected in some way geologically, deeper in the earth, or are they just a coincidence? Now, the first event was the Lone Pine, Owens Valley earthquake of March 26, 1872. Then later, up north in Washington state on December 14, 1872, there was that massive earthquake which was felt over quite an area...plus even shook up a number of places in Canada.

Then, on April 18, 1906, there was the devastating San Francisco earthquake. Up north in the San Juan Islands, in the Salish Sea region of Washington state, there was one island owned by a man named Charles L. Tutt, who was from the Denver Colorado area. Tutt called his island Denver Island. Well, during the San Francisco earthquke, Denver Island sank beneath the waters of the Salish Sea (Puget Sound). Then, roughly one and one-half years later, Denver Island rose from its watery grave and was reclaimed by Charles Tutt.

All the things spoken about in this section are noted within the pages linked below.

MORE  COMPLICATED  THAN  ORIGINALLY  THOUGHT

Based on what is said in the pages linked below, it appears that the geology in the Cascadia region may be more complex that many people have thought. The page linked here and as the first below, speaks of fluid which has been found within the plates in Cascadia, which fluid could affect how things happen during the next Cascadia earthquake. It appears that the fluid within the plates has caused scientists to guess at what could happen during a massive earthquake. Well, this leaves room for error in their predictions about how Cascadia will respond.

The second linked page indicates that major earthquakes in the Cascadia region "could strike closer to the state's urban areas than some models have suggested." The page indicates that epicenters of coming quakes in the Cascadia region --- "some of which could exceed magnitude 9" --- could be "more than 60 kilometers inland." This inland location for epicenters could allow for urban areas to get pounded rather hard. But, there is more to consider. The epicenters may potentially be along that ancient oceanic rift, which appears to reside deeply beneath the I-5 freeway corridor.

Moving onward, the third linked page speaks about the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone and microcontinents, plus oceanic crust and mid-ocean ridges. And, the page notes that things related to plate tectonics are far more complex than people initially realized, with multiple small pieces interacting with one another...which makes what will happen with things in the future much harder to predict. Well, it really makes things harder to predict when the scientists ignore that ancient oceanic rift which appears to be buried deeply, somewhere beneath the Interstate-5 freeway corridor.

TWO  EVENTS  TO  CONSIDER  CLOSER

A couple of sections above, it speaks about Charles Tutt and the sinking, then rising again, of his island in the Salish Sea or Puget Sound region. Tutt's island sank during the 1906 earthquake, which quake occurred over 600 miles to the south in San Francisco, California. It appears that, deep down beneath the surface of the landmass, there may be a geologic connection which is not clearly understand at this time. Could changes caused by the deeply buried, ancient oceanic rift system have caused the sinking and rising again of Tutt's island...at the time of the San Francisco earthquake?

Then there are the pages linked in the cluster of buttons below, which pages speak about the 1946 Vancouver Island earthquake. The page linked here states: "The tectonics that caused the 1946 Vancouver Island earthquake are poorly known." The page also states: "The estimated depth of the earthquake places it within the continental crust, not at the margin with the Cascadia subduction zone, and certainly not inside the subduction zone itself." So, if the quake was not related to the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone, what was it related to?

Looking into the page linked here, when it comes to the 1946 quake, it states: "The hypocentral depth is near 30 km, making surface rupture a distinct possibility." Considering the hypocenter of the quake further, could it have been located not that far away from, plus possibly affected by, the deeply buried ancient oceanic rift system? Now, there is something unusual which occurred during the 1946 quake. On the east coast of Vancouver Island there is Deep Bay. During the earthquake, at various locations, the bottom of Deep Bay sank "between 2.7 m (9 ft) and 25.6 m (84 ft)." (1)(2)

What caused the bottom of Deep Bay to sink "between 2.7 m (9 ft) and 25.6 m (84 ft)" during the 1946 earthquake? And again, it appears that the deeply buried oceanic rift system may be located beneath this area. Now, looking southward, it appears that the deeply buried oceanic rift system resides somewhere beneath that island of Charles Tutt, in the Puget Sound region of Washington state, which island sank in 1906 and then came back up again. Yes, some strange geologic things have happened in the area along the deeply buried oceanic rift.

Across the Strait of Georgia from Vancouver Island is the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. And, along the coastal region of the mainland of British Columbia is the Garibaldi Volcanic Belt. Now, the oceanic ridge system has volcanoes along its length. With the North American continent having overridden and "shaved off" the top of the ridge, is there a chance that these Canadian volcanoes have been "fed" by the magma from what is now is basically the deeply buried oceanic rift system which appears to be located somewhere deep below the Strait of Georgia area?

PART  SIX

STARTING  UNDER  SEATTLE ?

There have been a number of different thoughts about where the next devastating Cascadia earthquake will start. Now, within the page linked below, it states: "There is some debate over where exactly the quake will originate. Some scientists think that the earthquake could start under the Seattle-Tacoma area rather than out in the Pacific." Yes, it could start under the Seattle-Tacoma area because --- once again --- it appears that the ancient, oceanic rift is deeply buried beneath the surface of the landmass in that area, somewhere beneath the Interstate-5 freeway corridor.

On the other hand, there is the page linked below. When it comes to the massive Cascadia earthquake, the page declares that "cities like Eugene, Portland, Tacoma, Seattle, Everett, Victoria, Bellingham, Ferndale, Blaine and Vancouver are at risk. " It says that FEMA "anticipates complete destruction west of Interstate 5, possibly affecting over 10 million people." Then it states: "The epicenter could be anywhere from Northern California to Central Oregon..." What? The epicenter could be in Central Oregon? Actually, somewhere along the Interstate-5 corridor is the most likely place for the epicenter.

WHY  CASCADIA  HAS  "MONSTER  QUAKES"

At this point, there is something which needs to be considered. Why does it appear that Cascadia "likes" to produce those incredibly destructive and deadly "Monster Quakes"? Well, it appears that the weight and thickness of the overriding landmass keeps the ancient oceanic rift somewhat "trapped" or "locked," when it comes to its movement. Because of this, it appears that stress has to build to incredibly great levels in the rift system, before it can "break free" of its restraints and move. Therefore, a mind-boggling amount of energy is released in Cascadia quakes.

CASCADIA  COULD  BE  WORSE-OFF  THAN  EXPECTED

According to pages linked below, a large area of coastal Oregon and Washington could end up being under water, after the next, massive Cascadia earthquake event. Now, the first linked page declares: "A 2022 state and federal planning exercise for a Cascadia earthquake predicted about 14,000 fatalities, more than 100,000 injuries and the collapse of about 620,000 buildings in the Pacific Northwest, including 100 hospitals and 2,000 schools." And, all that is based on their typical Cascadia earthquake scenario, which ignores that rift which apparently exists deep beneath the Interstate-5 corridor.

The third linked page speaks of people basically being on their own for at least two weeks, after a massive Cascadia earthquake event. It speaks of landslides cutting of highways and bridges collapsing. It talks about liquefaction turning roads into areas of impassable mud. Yes, our normal civilization could suddenly come to a standstill. Now, the page speaks about people preparing two weeks of food, water and supplies, to sustain them after the quake. But, there is a possibility that people may have to fend for themselves for much longer than just two weeks.

The third page linked below indicates that the shaking from a Cascadia earthquake could be of stronger intensity, plus of a longer duration, in certain places of the Cascadia region. One of the places appears to be Tillamook, Oregon, which rests on a deep sedimentary basin, which sedimentary basin can amplify ground shaking during a Cascadia earthquake event. Then, there is the Seattle Basin, which could make things much worse for that city, which basin may amplify ground shaking in that city, during the next Cascadia earthquake event.

AN  UTTERLY  DEVASTATING  DOUBLE  EARTHQUAKE

Now, it is time for those pages which indicate that there could be a complete West Coast seismic disaster, in Washington, Oregon and California. The pages linked below indicate that a devastating Cascadia earthquake could trigger devastating seismic activity on the San Andreas Fault in California. But, the truth of the matter is this: more than just these two fault lines could be set off in the next massive West Coast seismic event. And yes, we shall learn the true devastation of the coming earthquake event, after the earthquake has happened. That's when we really learn about geology.

PART  SEVEN

THOSE  SCIENTISTS  HAVE  BEEN  UTTERLY  BLINDSIDED

The page linked below declares:
"In 2011, the seafloor jolted and sent waves up to 133 feet (41 meters) high over parts of Japan. In 2004, the entire planet vibrated as an undersea quake near Sumatra pushed tsunamis over coastlines across the Indian Ocean.
In 2016, a magnitude-7.8 earthquake ruptured multiple faults near Kaikoura, New Zealand, in what seismologists say could be the most complicated earthquake on record.
What do all these events have in common? They happened in subduction zones — and in every case, the Earth did something scientists absolutely did not expect."

In the quote above, note closely these words: "...in every case, the Earth did something scientists absolutely did not expect." Yes, it appears that scientists were expecting something very different, and then the totally unexpected happened. When looking at the record, it appears that the scientists have been utterly blindsided again and again. It does appear that they thought they knew much more than they really did. And, as a result of wrong information provided to the public, many thousands of people have died unnecessarily..."and the beat goes on."

The page declares further: "But researchers can't predict when big quakes will happen, or where. They can't explain the subterranean plumbing of volcanic systems, or how earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are related. They're consistently surprised by megaquakes that rupture areas larger than they thought possible or in places they never predicted." When it comes to scientists and researchers, again, note these words: "They're consistently surprised by megaquakes that rupture areas larger than they thought possible or in places they never predicted." Again and again, it happens.

Yes, megaquakes have happened in places scientists never predicted. And in Cascadia, they are basing their earthquake predictions on the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone, while it appears they are totally ignoring that ancient oceanic rift system which appears to be deeply buried somewhere beneath the Interstate-5 freeway corridor. So, it is time for an important question. Will the next, very deadly and extremely destructive Cascadia earthquake event be centered in places the scientists never predicted or thought possible for being an earthquake initiator? Time will give us the answer.

SCIENTISTS  TOTALLY  LOOKING  IN  THE  WRONG  PLACE

The page linked below, which speaks about a deadly quake in Mexico City, is from Thursday, September 21, 2017. The quake it mainly addresses occurred two days earlier, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Below the page title is these words: "Tuesday's deadly quake did not come from the place many geologists thought would unleash the next 'big one'." It goes on to note that the Tuesday earthquake occurred "32 years to the day after a giant earthquake killed as many as 10,000 people in this very place."

When it comes to what produced the devastating Tuesday earthquake, the page states: "A rupture in a fault that had not worried building planners or seismologists caused heavy damage throughout the city and took the lives of more than 200 people." So, the deadly earthquake was produced by a fault which seismologists did not appear to be at all concerned about. It appears that in their search for the fault which would produce the next devastating quake, they were totally ignoring the one which ruptured and caused death and destruction. Will it be any different in Cascadia?

In Mexico, in their search for a fault which would likely produce the next destructive earthquake, the seismologists had their focus on a fault near the coast...as they apparently totally ignored the fault which did produce the killer quake. Yes, the coastal fault in Mexico had been building up strain for a long time, just like the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone has been doing in the Pacific Northwest. But, in the Pacific Northwest, it appears that strain has also been building along the deeply buried, ancient oceanic rift system, which appears to lie below the Interstate-5 freeway corridor.

Looking again at the 2017 Mexico City quake, the page indicates that it did not happen on the coast at all, where the scientists had been diligently looking. Note that the deadly quake was produced on a fault in the interior of Mexico. Furthermore, note that things fractured "35 miles below the surface..." Now, let us turn our focus to Cascadia. In Cascadia, it appears that the ancient oceanic rift which may suddenly and violently shift is buried somewhere around 21 miles below the surface of the I-5 freeway corridor...which is much less that the "35 miles below the surface" in the Mexico quake.

In the page, that seismologist from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (U.N.A.M.) "thinks his colleagues may have been looking for threats in the wrong place." From what is said, it appears there had been a bit of a controversy going between seismologists, as to which fault was most likely to produce the next big earthquake. But, in the end, it appears they all may have completely missed or ignored the real culprit. And again, shall it be any different in Cascadia? After the I-5 corridor is devastated, will scientists finally realize they had been looking in the wrong place?

There are some things to note in the linked page. It speaks of earthquakes coming "from the deep crust under central Mexico." Those quakes were not coming from surface faults, but from deep in the earth. Now, looking further in the linked page, it notes the 2011 Japan earthquake. It shows that the devastating Japan quake came from "a relatively ignored section of the fault..." Regarding the Mexico quake, one seismologist stated: "We were surprised by the Tohoku event in Japan and we were surprised by this earthquake." And, will it be any different in Cascadia?

THE  DEADLY  BAM,  IRAN  EARTHQUAKE  OF  2003

Within the pages linked below, it is said that the magnitude 6.6 earthquake which reduced Bam, Iran to rubble "lasted just a few seconds but inflicted overwhelming destruction. The shallow depth of around 10 kilometers magnified its impact, sending shockwaves directly through the city." Looking further down in the page, it states: "The earthquake's main shock lasted about 10 seconds -- an eternity in cataclysmic terms." So, the Bam earthquake's main shock lasted about ten seconds. Now, looking at Cascadia, it is said that the M9.0+ quake may shake for five to seven minutes (1).

Looking again to pages linked below, it is said: "The official death toll from the Bam earthquake eventually exceeded 26,000, though some estimates spoke even higher -- a calamity unparalleled in modern Iranian history. Approximately 30,000 more were injured, and over 75,000 were displaced. Around 80 to 90 percent of buildings in Bam were destroyed or severely damaged." Now, the buildings in Bam were not built to the standards of western U.S. buildings, but, an M9.0+ quake shaking for 5 to 7 minutes, centered on the buried rift, could be the downfall for many buildings in Cascadia.

Note the pages linked below which indicate that it was movement on a "buried" or concealed fault which caused the deadly and destructive 2003 Bam earthquake. This buried or concealed fault was located "several miles below the surface -- a fault whose fractures are not easily observed at Earth's surface." And, this seems to be the type of situation which exists in the Cascadia region, when it comes to that huge, ancient oceanic rift which appears to be buried or concealed deep below the surface of the I-5 freeway corridor.

JAPANESE  SCIENTISTS  IGNORED  CLEAR  EVIDENCE

When it comes to the devastating 2011 Tohoku earthquake in Japan, there are some important things to note. The page linked below declares: "A quake that large shouldn't have happened at Tohoku, at least not to the best of Japanese scientists' knowledge." It appears that scientists were looking elsewhere for zones at which a massive earthquake could be produced. And, as history shows, the scientists were looking in the wrong place. When it came to where the next deadly quake would be, possibly too much faith was put on that which the scientists were saying.

Regarding scientists declaring certain areas as "low-probability" zones for earthquakes, while they focus their attention elsewhere, the page states: "Japan isn't alone. The incredibly destructive earthquakes that hit Wenchuan, China in 2008 and Christchurch, New Zealand in 2010 and 2011 all happened in areas deemed to be 'relatively safe'." Now, it appears that scientists, even with all their fancy high-tech equipment --- likely paid for with lots of taxpayer dollars --- just cannot get things correct, when it comes to earthquakes. And, they often look in the wrong places for quake initiators.

Well, the information linked below appears to reveal the utter ineptness of a number of those in controlling or influential positions within the scientific community. Part way down in the page, from two different sources, there is a section titled Invigorating tsunami science. In that section, it states that "hints of a giant wave, in A.D. 869, had been found far inland in Sendai, a town where thousands died in the 2011 tsunami. Many researchers before Tohoku had published the tsunami records, but earthquake modelers didn't believe the geological data because their models didn't replicate them..."

What?! Those apparently arrogant and inept earthquake modelers would not believe the actual physical geological data, which had been collected out in the field, simply because their silly and expensive computer models could not replicate that which had truly happened in real life. Wow! Can you believe some of the things that go on in the so-called "scientific" community? And, there is reason to suspect that it was ineptness like this which ultimately led to the death of roughly 19,000 people (1)(2). Well, that appears to be what can happen, when people blindly trust the oft-erring scientists.

Now, there really is no excuse for the apparent, utter ineptness of some of those in the "scientific" community. Looking again at the 2011 Tohoku earthquake with its very deadly tsunami, we need to consider all those "tsunami stones" in Japan. These "tsunami stones" are spoken about in the pages linked below. And, these tsunami stones have been in place in Japan for hundreds of years, so there is no excuse for the ignorance of more recent generations. Well, you can bet that those silly earthquake modelers, with their models, could not replicate what the tsunami stones were showing.

LOOKING  CLOSER  AT  THE  NEW  ZEALAND  EARTHQUAKE

The page linked below speaks about the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake in New Zealand. It states that the quake moved parts "of the South Island more than 5 metres closer to the North Island, in a rupture so unusual it could forever change the way scientists think about earthquake hazards." The page mentions published research which states that "the earthquake's characteristics could not have been predicted by existing models." And, there is reason to suspect that the models for Cascadia will prove to be deficient, once the deadly and devastating Cascadia earthquake occurs.

Within the linked page, it speaks about published research for the Kaikoura earthquake. It states: "It confirmed that at least 21 faults, some of them previously unknown, had ruptured across two active fault domains that were not known to be connected." Again, many faults broke loose in this one event, and, some of those faults were previously unknow. Now, is there a chance that something along these lines could happen in Cascadia? Is there a chance that scientists will be totally blindsided because of the death and carnage produced by unexpected ruptures in the coming Cascadia event?

Regarding the Kaikoura earthquake, one scientist declared: "Some of the apparent jumps between faults I don't think any seismic hazards model in the world would have considered a possible scenario." So, what good are these time-consuming and costly seismic hazards models...when it seems they don't actually match what happens in the real world? Could these computer models just mislead people and give them a false sense of security, when in real life, things shall be much worse? Well, could the coming Cascadia earthquake event be much worse than the computer models are showing?

And now, there is something extremely important to note in the linked page. One scientist declared: "If [the Kaikoura earthquake] had happened 1000 years ago ... if you were to look at it with current paleoseismic methods that are available you would see it as separate individual events. You would never consider it as a single rupture." Well, considering this, are people rather foolish to put their trust in what scientists are telling them about what the Cascadia event will be like? Is there a chance that it shall end up being far worse than scientists are telling us?

When it comes to things which blindsided scientists about the New Zealand earthquake, the page linked below states: "It could also mean the risk of large earthquakes elsewhere are more likely." Yes, larger than expected earthquakes are more likely, especially if computer models do not show how things are in real life. And, regarding the Cascadia region, it appears that computer models are missing that deeply buried, ancient oceanic rift, which appears to reside somewhere beneath the Interstate-5 freeway corridor...and which rift may be the initiator for the next devastating Cascadia quake.

ITALIAN  SCIENTISTS  DOWNPLAYED  RISK,  WENT  TO  JAIL

Now, let us look further at scientists being wrong about an earthquake, which resulted in many people dying. There was that earthquake in Italy in 2009. It appears that the scientists were indicating that there was nothing to worry about. They were giving false assurances. And then the earthquake hit and more than 300 people died. Because the scientists had downplayed the risk, a number of them went to jail. Well, when it comes to Cascadia, is there a chance that scientists are downplaying the real threat? All survivors shall know the truth on this one, the day after the quake.

Looking around on the internet, there are many pages which say that the Italian scientists were sent to jail simply because they couldn't predict an earthquake. It appears that those pages are intentionally working to deceive the general public about the real issue. Now, the page linked below says it like it is. The Italian scientists were sent to jail for flippantly telling the public that they had nothing to worry about. They told the people there was nothing to worry about, while a string of smaller quakes continued to rattle the area. And then, the big one hit...and people died.

Now, look at the pages linked below. The scientific community was stunned and in shock over the jailing of their flippant colleagues who gave false assurances to the general public...which resulted in many people dying. It appears that those in the scientific community believe that they shouldn't be held accountable for giving the general public false assurances, even when many people end up dying. Is that the way it may be, after the coming Cascadia event utterly devastates the West Coast states?

The pages linked below show that the flippant Italian scientists ultimately ended up being set free and getting away with things. The conviction of the scientists was overturned, because --- as one of the linked pages states --- the scientists were using the best available science. Well, it appears that the best available science is not something to be trusted with your life. It appears that the best available science is obviously lacking or seriously flawed. Be on the safe side. Learn all you can about earthquakes, and then use your own judgment on what you should do when you see certain "signs".

PART  EIGHT

KNOCKING  DOWN  BUILDINGS  BIG  AND  SMALL

The page linked below speaks of "the Cascadia fault rupturing within 68 miles of downtown Seattle, pouring seismic energy into a densely populated urban area." Now, there is something important to note. The information in the linked page is based on the rupture and earthquake being tied to the Cascadia thrust fault, which is located miles off the coast at the so-called "Subduction Zone," rather than being initiated by the ancient, deeply buried oceanic rift which appears to reside beneath the Interstate-5 freeway corridor.

From their view of the Cascadia earthquake being centered on the offshore Cascadia fault, and its effects working toward the population center of Seattle, the page indicates that the release of seismic energy could potentially knock down buildings of virtually all sizes, while endangering the lives of millions. But again, this information is based on the earthquake being centered on the Cascadia Subduction Zone, rather than being initiated by the deeply buried oceanic rift which appears to reside far beneath the I-5 corridor, and under major metropolitan areas in Washington and Oregon.

Again, the page linked above speaks of "the Cascadia fault rupturing within 68 miles of downtown Seattle." Then, there is the page linked below. It states: "The latest evidence is an upcoming study in Geophysical Research Letters that concludes the danger zone could lie within 50 miles of Seattle and the Interstate 5 corridor. ''That's a lot closer to where everybody lives,'' said co-author Timothy Melbourne, of Central Washington University."

The page goes on to state: "The closer the quake, the heavier the damage in Seattle, said Thomas Heaton, professor of engineering seismology at California Institute of Technology. Heaton, who was not involved in the study, conducted computer simulations that show the city’s tall buildings would be particularly vulnerable." Then it states: "'If that earthquake happens, it will hammer the place,' Heaton said. 'It will hammer harder if it's closer.'"

Now, looking into the page linked below, it states: "The USGS Cascadia scenario projects 1,000-3,000 deaths in Seattle alone from building collapses, 20,000-30,000 injuries, $80+ billion economic losses, and 6-12 month recovery period for basic services including electricity, water, and transportation." And, that is using the Cascadia Subduction Zone as the cause of the earthquake, rather than the ancient, oceanic rift which appears to be buried deeply below the I-5 freeway corridor. If the rift triggers the earthquake, the devastation and death toll could be much greater.

What is said in the page linked below is, once again, based on the idea that the next devastating Cascadia earthquake event shall be centered on the so-called Cascadia Subduction Zone. The five Puget Sound cities which are supposed to get shaken the hardest are: Shoreline, Kirkland, Seattle, Lakewood, and Redmond. Then, the page claims that Olympia, Everett, Sammamish, Lacey, and Renton shall only experience weak shaking. Well, it will be interesting to compare what the page states, with what is clearly seen after the next, deadly and devastating Cascadia event occurs.

MORE  TO  THE  SEATTLE-REGION  STORY

When it comes to the Seattle area and how it could get seriously hammered in the next major Cascadia event, there is more to consider. There are many faults which go in many directions in the Seattle region. Now, the pages linked below mainly speak about the Seattle Fault Zone and the Saddle Mountain Fault Zone. It appears that both of these zones ruptured, virtually at the same time, in some earlier events. And, if both of these zones ruptured simultaneously today, with large quakes, they would devastate the Seattle region. But, there is more to this story.

There is also the Tacoma and Olympia fault zones which run close to Seattle. According to the page, the various faults within the Seattle region could interact and link up with each other, to then produce even larger and more devastating multi-fault earthquake events. They have done it in the past, and there is reason to suspect that they can do it again. But, there is still more to the story. What if the deeply buried, ancient oceanic rift system initiates a devastating earthquake event, which also causes the other fault zones around the Seattle area to rupture.

The massive amount of seismic energy released in a rift, plus multi-fault event of this nature would likely be extremely destructive and deadly. So, just how deadly and destructive would an event of this nature be? Well, I am sure that it would be utterly stunning. But, we can only know the true answer to this question, after an event like this happens. And, there is reason to suspect that it would take many years to recover from an event like this, especially with all the destroyed infrastructure. So, just hope that such an event like this does not happen in your lifetime.

SEATTLE-REGION  AND  A  SECOND  RIFT

Not only does it appear that the Seattle region is dealing with that ancient oceanic rift system which appears to be deeply buried beneath the Interstate-5 freeway corridor, but, it appears that the Seattle region is also dealing with a second buried rift. Now, the Cascadia I-5 rift is generally north-south trending through Washington and Oregon. On the other hand, the second buried rift generally trends northwest-southeast, and appears to cross virtually the whole United States...from the state of Georgia to Washington state...to possibly cross the I-5 rift and continue out the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

The cross-continent rift was written about in a Friday, December 17, 1981 news article in the Spokane Chronicle...which appears to have been a daily newspaper in that area. The article, which is linked below, is found on page 5 of that newspaper, in the upper-right corner of that page. If the internet version disappears, the article may possibly be found through other sources. Within the article is a map of the United States, with the path of the northwest-southeast trending rift drawn over it with a heavy black line.

In the article, one U.S. Geologic Survey geologist said the rift or crack "could be associated with earthquake disturbances in some part of the country." The article also states: "The crack reportedly is 90 miles across at its widest and extends deep into the earth's crust..." It also states "that the Washington extension of the giant crack has apparently been hidden by the area's lava flows..." One geologist said "the crack may shed more light on the area's fault systems..." Actually, there is reason to suspect that it is part of that northwest-trending fault system which passes beneath Grand Coulee Dam.

Again, note in the paragraph above where the geologist said the rift or crack "could be associated with earthquake disturbances in some part of the country." Now, there are a couple of things to mention. Look at that map in the article linked below. The Yellowstone supervolcano is located in northwest Wyoming, where the rift crosses. Also, the rift passes the southern tip of Illinois, where the huge New Madrid earthquake of 1811-1812 (1)(2)(3) was located. And, as states in the paragraph above, in Washington, the crack is hidden under lava flows...so what all it may connect to is hidden.

Linked below are pages providing additional information about the giant cross-country rift. In the page linked here and in the buttons below, regarding the discovery of the rift it states: "The discovery, however, could help explain why earthquakes persist in the Missouri Bootheel, the site of the devastating New Madrid quakes 170 years ago [from 1981]. Arvidson said the rift intersects with the Reelfoot Rift in the Bootheel in a trouble zone where tremors have recurred regularly since the terrible quakes of 1811-12."

If the giant cross-country rift continues through the state of Washington, it may likely cross the deeply buried, north-south trending oceanic rift which appears to be located beneath Puget Sound and the Interstate-5 freeway corridor. Now, when it comes to the giant cross-country rift, the page linked here and below states: "What is known, is that these linear rift zones have exhibited the ability to unleash very large earthquakes." And, that may also be the case with the deeply buried, ancient oceanic rift system which appears to reside somewhere around 21 miles beneath the I-5 corridor.

For a number of years, the writer of the presentation you are now reading has noted the northwest-southeast angle of the northern margin of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. The writer has also noted the northwest-southeast trending Stait of Juan de Fuca, as seen on a maps accessed by the following links: (1)(2)(3). Now, transfer this knowledge of the angled northern margin of the Olympic Peninsula, plus the northwest-southeast trending Strait of Juan de Fuca, to the map in the Spokane Chronicle article which is linked above. What do you find?

Indeed, the alignment of the main body of the Strait of Juan de Fuca appears to line up fairly well with that huge, ancient cross-continent rift. Well, there may be more to the geologic story of this area, than the casual observer may see. There is reason to suspect that the giant cross-continent rift, which goes from Georgia to Washington state, may be the reason why Vancouver Island, Canada, is separated from the Olympic Peninsula by the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Now, for those who have an interest, general information about the Strait of Juan de Fuca is found in the pages linked below.

PART  NINE

THE  MID-OCEAN  RIDGE:  THAT  INCREDIBLE  GOLD  FACTORY

The pages linked below speak about that gold which comes from beneath the seafloor, which commonly forms valuable gold-bearing sulfide deposits on the mid-ocean ridges. From what is said in the page linked here and below, the gold in these ridge deposits is associated with high concentrations of silver (Ag), arsenic (As), Antimony (Sb), Lead (Pb), and Zinc (Zn), and locally with high concentrations of cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), thallium (Tl), and gallium (Ga). Then, the page linked here and below indicates that deep below the undersea volcanoes, Earth has its gold factory.

The page linked here and below notes gold enrichment at the mid-ocean ridge hydrothermal systems. And, the NASA page linked here and below speaks of noble metals, like gold (Au), silver (Ag), iridium (Ir) and palladium (Pd) being associated with mid-ocean ridge volcanism. Then, the Abstract linked here and below indicates that polymetallic (composed of many metals) massive sulfide deposits "have been found on fast- and slow-spreading ridges...[and]...in sedimented rifts adjacent to continental margins..." Yes, polymetallic deposits are found at spreading ridges and by continental margins.

Looking again at the Abstract linked in the paragraph above, it states further: "Gold concentrations are locally high in samples from a number of mid-ocean ridge deposits (up to 7 ppm) but may reach concentrations of more than 50 ppm Au in massive sulfides from immature back-arc rifts." And again, the mid-ocean ridge has a rift in the middle of it, as indicated further above in this presentation. And, as noted in the preceding linked information, this geologic feature was called the "Great Global Rift" in earlier times. This rift is buried deep beneath the Walker Lane, east of the Sierra Nevada.

WHERE  GOLD  IS  FOUND  IN  CALIFORNIA

The map in the page linked below tells quite a story. Look at all that gold which has been found all over the place in the Sierra Nevada region, along the eastern side of California. Look at all that gold which has been found at that which appears to be the actual, much more realistic location for the buried oceanic rift and the boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate. Then, at the top-left of the map, there is that area of gold to the west of Mount Shasta. And, as noted earlier in this presentation, the deeply buried oceanic rift resides to the west of Mount Shasta.

Yes, a whole lot of gold has been found in the area of the deeply buried oceanic rift system. A lot of gold has been found along that which appears to be the true boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate. But, along the San Andreas Fault, a rather insignificant amount of gold has been found, and that, only in a few scattered places. The gold found near the San Andreas Fault is not enough to warrant anything close to an "honorable mention". Really, it does not look like the San Andreas Fault is the true boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate.

By what is seen in the map in the page linked above, it should be more than clear to a number of thinking people that the San Andreas Fault does not reside above that overran and deeply buried oceanic rift system. The lack of a large number of gold deposits along the San Andreas should make this very clear. Now, as shown in the preceding section, the buried oceanic rift system is an incredible producer of lots of gold and other minerals of value. So, it's time to consider a more realistic location for the gold-producing boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate.

THE  WALKER  LANE  GEOLOGIC  TROUGH

The first and second linked pages, together, provide quite a bit of detailed information about the Walker Lane, from a certain point of view. Then, the third and fourth pages state that the Walker Lane is a geologic trough. It is currently a geologic trough largely because, as noted earlier in this presentation, it is "the northernmost extension of the Gulf of California transtensional rift," where rifting is not yet complete, but things have sunk downwards. And, being associated with the oceanic ridge and rift system, this geologic trough is associated with the "gold factory".

WALKER  LANE:  LOTS  OF  GOLD  AND  VALUABLE  MINERALS

Within the pages linked below, it speaks about much gold to be found in the Walker Lane. Now, the Walker Lane overlaps on both sides of the border between California and Nevada. But, since leftist California does not appear to be quite as friendly to mining activity (yes, that is a major understatement), virtually all the information linked below is about gold mining and exploration in the Nevada side of the Walker Lane. Not only is high-grade gold found in the Walker Lane, but also silver, copper, and other valuable minerals.

Because it appears the Walker Lane is associated with that deeply buried oceanic ridge and rift system, it enjoys those benefits which come from the buried rift...besides just the gold. Now, the page linked below notes zinc, copper and lead also being found at the mid-ocean ridge. Well, these are the same things which are also found within the Walker Lane. All of this evidence indicates that the buried mid-ocean ridge and rift system is associated with the Walker Lane, to the east of the Sierra Nevada, rather than with the "barren and lacking" San Andreas Fault system.

VOLCANIC  ACTIVITY  AND  GOLD

Gold is commonly associated with volcanic activity and volcanic systems. The first linked page shows that volcanic systems help transport the gold, which may be in a water solution, through cracks or seams in rock layers where it may ultimately be deposited. Then, the second linked page speaks of the gold-sulfur connection...and, sulfur is related to volcanoes. The third linked page also speaks about the highly mobile gold-sulfur complex, and the link to volcanoes. This information also relates to volcanoes on the mid-ocean ridge and rift system.

EARTHQUAKES  AND  GOLD  ...  LOTS  OF  GOLD

Yes, earthquakes can help make gold deposits...even huge deposits of gold. Looking into the pages linked below, they speak about two different methods whereby gold deposits can be formed by earthquakes. One method is by the electrical attraction of gold to the piezoelectric voltage created by quartz which is stressed during the earthquake. The other method involves faults losing their "seal" during earthquakes, so that superheated, highly pressurized water with gold in solution suddenly flash-boils with the sudden pressure drop and leaves the gold deposited in the ground.

Well, when the coming Cascadia earthquake massively cuts loose somewhere along the Interstate-5 Freeway cooridor in Washington or Oregon, or maybe even along the east side of the Sierra Nevada in the Walker Lane of California/Nevada, as the rifting there widens, there is something to consider. Possibly there may be quite a number of new deposits of gold and other valuable minerals which are formed and left behind. Possibly that is how Nature will pay for all the destruction, carnage and death which will likely be associated with the devastating Cascadia earthquake event.

PART  TEN

A  TIME  TO  PREPARE  YOURSELF

In this presentation is a lot of information to consider. And, in all of this, the writer has an important message to give. Take the Cascadia situation seriously, especially those in the Seattle region who may be dealing with the effects of two rifts being set off, plus multiple northwest-southeast trending faults releasing seismic energy. Yes, make sure you properly prepare yourself for the coming Cascadia earthquake...as best you can. And, preparing yourself mentally for what may be coming is a part of preparation. Plus, properly preparing to meet God at any moment should be of utmost importance.

Now, envision a scenario where things are going utterly crazy around you. Nature has "cut loose" in its fury and people in cities are having to do their best to dodge falling buildings and other structures, while many are being killed and crushed beneath the debris. Imagine a scenario where people are forced to dodge sliding hillsides, while many are buried and smothered to death in the debris. Consider a scenario where large areas of liquefaction occur in many places and the ground becomes like quicksand, with buildings sinking and people being swallowed and smothered.

Possibly it is time to stop living in denial. Possibly it is time to come out of La La Land. It is not a matter of "if" a devastating and horrendously deadly Cascadia event will occur, it just seems to be a matter of "when" that event will occur. It is not a time to freak-out. It is time to methodically prepare yourself and those you love or care about. Prepare yourself for potentially living a rather primitive lifestyle. Prepare for living a life of pure survival, for at least a period of time...possibly even for an extended period of time. The writer wishes you all well, in the times ahead.

EXPECT  THE  UNEXPECTED

Now, the pages linked below speak about earthquakes in "unlikely" and unexpected places. The one page indicates that we should actually expect the unexpected. In the coming days, we should not be surprised at all, even when massive earthquakes hit in places with the scientists claim are stable regions. And, there is reason to suspect that things shall be getting crazy on this earth, geologically and other ways, in the days ahead. And again, in all of this, the writer wishes you all well. And, may you be properly prepared to meet God, when it's your time to go.

GETTING  READY  FOR  DISASTERS

When it comes to the next deadly and hugely devastating, "monster" Cascadia earthquake event, once again, expect the unexpected. Be ready for virtually anything. Be surprised at nothing. Now, when Cascadia busts loose in all its glory, a whole lot of people may likely die. On the other hand, lots of people hopefully will survive...in one way or another. Whether you are of those who will live, or of those who will die, at least all should be prepared to do their best to survive. For that reason, the writer has provided information below about "go bags," also known as "bug out bags."

Check through the information linked below. Then form an idea for a bug-out bag which will fit your particular needs. Remember, you are designing this bag for you...not for someone else's needs. One additional thing the writer would suggest: learn about foraging for wild edibles. If you know how to forage for wild edibles in an emergency situation, you will not have to carry as much food with you. Actually, you can survive for months or longer eating mainly wild edibles. And then, for those with the skills, a person can fast for quite a number of days, if there is no food available.

Regarding a Cascadia earthquake event, truly, there are many unknowns. Possibly you will be one of the lucky ones whose house survives the disaster. Possibly you may be able to "shelter in place." But, you may not have running water or electricity, so, your will have to make due as best you can. For others, their home may end up being a pile of rubble, and they will be forced to shelter in other ways. If you are one who survives the disaster, the more you know about survival, the better you should be able to survive in the aftermath of a Cascadia event. Again, the writer wishes you all well.

LEARN  FORAGING,  SURVIVAL,  AND  FIRST  AID

If you live in the Cascadia region, it may be wise to get prepared as best you possibly can. If your common foods are not available, possibly you will need to know how to forage from Nature's Garden in order to survive for an extended period of time. And, there is more to survival than just foraging. You may want to know first aid, in order to help yourself and others in emergencies, when 911 responders are no longer just a phone call away. You may also need to build a shelter in order to survive. The pages linked below are an introduction to things you may need to know, in an emergency.

WATCH  OUT  FOR  AGRESSIVE  ANIMALS

As noted further above, when it come to an earthquake, expect the unexpected. And, as seen in those pages linked below, there may be dog packs roaming around in your area, looking for a kill and an easy meal. One page notes that "feral dogs have no natural fear of people in many areas, and their unpredictable behavior makes them one of the least understood dangers..." Don't survive the earthquake, only to become the victim of a dog pack. Then, some may have to watch out for bears, mountain lions, wolves or snakes and other critters. Know what's around you. Stay alert. Survive!
